SUPERVISION

In the holistic model of education, we are all learners – participants, students, teachers, facilitators, whatever we call ourselves. This perception underpins the idea of a learning community, and is also the reason why Findhorn College is developing a culture of supervision for staff. Supervision in this context does not mean hierarchical control, but rather a facilitated supportive process and safe ‘space’ that enables exploration of such things as the interpersonal dynamics between members of staff or between staff and students so that we can learn to be more effective.

Supporting our Work

Supervision has 4 main benefits for facilitators:

Support in facilitating groups
Professional development, and assistance in reflecting on their practice
Providing an opportunity to reflect on the course and how it might be developed
Providing a safeguard for themselves and the College, recognising that everyone has blind-spots and it can help to have another perspective on issues and dynamics within the learning group
