The course is hosted at The Park, Findhorn Ecovillage and comprises five separate weeklong modules, which may be attended as a whole or separately. The curriculum draws on the experience and expertise developed in a network of some of the most successful ecovillages and community projects across our world.

It is comprehensive course based on the four core pillars of the Ecovillage Design Curriculum: the Social, Ecological, Economic, and Worldview dimensions of sustainability.

We launch our Design for Sustainability five week course with a week's training in facilitation and leadership skills.

Leadership Skills training – Week 1: OCT 4-10

A Training in Skillful Facilitation as Effective Empowering Leadership, a Path for Sustainable Social Action, Personal Growth, and Spiritual Enrichment

Social Design – Week 2:  Oct 11-17 

Building Community & Embracing Diversity; Communication and Facilitation Skills, Decision-Making and Feedback; Conflict Facilitation; Personal Empowerment and Leadership; Celebrating Life

Ecological Design – Week 3:  Oct 25-31

Whole Systems Approach to Ecological Design; Water; Appropriate Technology: Energy; Green Building & Retrofitting, Healthy Soil.

Economic Design – Week 4:  Oct 18-24

Ownership, Control & Trust; Social Enterprise-Nurturing Local Economies; Legal and Financial Issues; How Money Works: Community Banks and Currencies; Right Livelihood

Worldview – Week 5:  Nov 1-7

Holistic Worldview, Listening to and Reconnecting with Nature; Transition Town Training; Personal Health & Planetary Health; Awakening & Transformation of Consciousness

Gaia Education Ecovillage Design Curriculum - an official contribution to the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014

Training fees:

Fees include tuition, accommodation, vegetarian meals and field trips. Each module completes Friday evening and participants are welcome to stay until Saturday morning.

Income related pricing for the five weeks

£2990 payable by participants with high income
£2650 payable by participants with medium income
£2310 payable by participants with modest income

£680/£600/£525 per module according to income

5% discount for booking any four weeks

Fees include tuition, accommodation, vegetarian meals and field trips.
