Design for Sustainability Design Studio and Case Studies

More about the EDE’s Design Studio time –

Participants engage with Design Projects at The Park Ecovillage.

These projects are real-life scenarios, based on challenges and improvements useful to the ecovillage community.

Participants will choose from 3-4 diverse types of projects, this provides the opportunity for participants to engage in the issues most relevant to the design thinking approaches needed for action in their home communities.

The design project options will be presented and selected in the first week. Once participants select their project, design teams will be formed by bringing together participants who expressed interest in the same projects.

As part of the Social dimension the design team will be supported with time and coaching to develop team agreements that define their collaborative process and support good quality relationships before launching into the actual design process.

Participants will be introduced to design processes and tools that they can then apply throughout the design studio sessions.

Each dimension of the Four Pillars of Sustainability as outlined by Gaia Education has specific learning outcomes.

The design studio projects are organised to support those learning outcomes and reinforce the course material presented in the content rich morning sessions.
