Gaia Education Design for Sustainability
After a successful landing of the EDE course in the College last Autumn, we are already preparing for EDE 2013, which will run from 5 October to 8 November. If you consider participating in our EDE course this year, you can still apply for a Grundtvig Grant. The deadline is 30 April. The Grundtvig course is part of the European Commission's Lifelong Learning course 2007-2013 and therefore will finish at the end of this year. To apply, please follow the link on the EDE web page.
Singing in Community
This year we will be running Singing in Community for the second time. Bill Henderson, one of the workshop leaders, observes that although the course trains the participants to become a choir leader, it would work equally well for people who want to learn to lead any group. A main part of the training is to build confidence in leading. "Leading a choir the way we teach it is about creating community as well as about creating a choir", he says.
English in Community
The group for our next English in Community course is nearly complete. We are open toapplications for the August course.
The journey of Learning English in community is a unique mix of learning the English language, being part of the Findhorn community and everyone's personal journey. The atmosphere of adventure and courage is unique for each new group and so are the richness of experience and the bonds of friendship that have formed as they leave.
The Origin Project
The College is hosting the Origin – a 3-year, EU-funded research project that investigates how smart metering of energy usage might influence people to use sustainable energy in their homes more consciously and efficiently. Many people living in the Park are volunteering to become involved in the research. In the first phase the actual energy usage patterns of many private homes and Findhorn Foundation buildings in the Park will be measured.
Together with Findhorn, two other European ecovillages also partake in the project - Damanhur in Italy and Tamera in Portugal.
On January 6th Dr. Edward Owen from Heriot Watt University who is involved in the Origin project gave an introduction about the Origin Project during a Sunday Slot in the Upper CC.
